AIMS
RUMPUN Jurnal Persuratan Melayu previously known as the International Journal of The Malay Letters (2013- Sept 2019) is a refereed journal published twice a year (June and December beginning 2020) by the Budiman Writers Association of Malaysia (BUDIMAN). This journal aims to develop the knowledge of Malay/Indonesian social sciences and humanities in order to be a conducive and strong academic platform in the regional area. The contributors of the article consist of languages researcher, literature, arts culture, and education from within and outside the country. This journal is published online twice a year June and December.

FOCUS AND SCOPE
RUMPUN Jurnal Persuratan Melayu is a journal that publishes research-based articles related to Malay/Indonesian social sciences and humanities areas such as literature, language, arts, culture, and education. Researchers in this field are from around the region and invited to submit an article to be published in this journal.

JOURNAL POLICIES

Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Publication Charge Policy

The journal didn’t charge any fees for the submission of the manuscript. Fees of RM200.00/article are charged only for published articles to cover the complete charge of the publication process including peer-reviewing, editing, publishing, maintaining & archiving, and allows immediate access to the full-text versions of the submitted articles. The mode of payment will be communicated by the Editorial Office after the due acceptance of the paper for publication.

Copyright
Copyright protects your original material and prevents others from using your work without your permission. Others will need to acknowledge you and your work in their article.
You are free to share, copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.
You must give appropriate credit, acknowledge, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
The journal will retain publishing rights without restrictions.

Ethics Policy

Authorship are:
1. those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study;
2. those who have made significant contributions, following which they should be listed as co-authors; and
3. others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, should be acknowledged or listed as contributors.

The corresponding author should be responsible:
1. ensure that all appropriate co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the article;
 2. have agreed to its submission for publication; and
 3. manage any requests to add, delete or rearrange author names in an article published in an online issue.
 4. Manage any requests to do any correction in an article.
 5. declare the originality of the work and permission for the publication

The authors should be responsible:
 1. ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if they have used the work and/or words of others, that this has been appropriately cited or quoted;
 2. secured the necessary reproduction rights with the rights holder for any third party material (images, digital content, etc.) you have used prior to submission;
 3. ensure that they have acknowledged any funding that has contributed to the publication;
 4. provide the raw data in connection with the article for editorial review, and should be prepared to provide public access and retain;
 5. NOT in general publish an article describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication;
 6. NOT submitting the same article to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable;
 7. include disclosure of all relationships that could be viewed as presenting a potential conflict of interest;
 8. promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the article;
 9. ensure that the article contains a statement that all procedures were performed in compliance with relevant laws and institutional guidelines;
10. include a statement in the article that informed consent was obtained for experimentation with human subjects; and
11. obtain appropriate consents, permissions, and releases where an author wishes to include case details or other personal information or images of any individuals.

The Responsibility of the Editor/s:
1. keep all information pertaining to the submitted article confidential;
2. disclose any conflicts of interest;
3. evaluate the article based on its intellectual content without prejudice.
4. be responsible for making publication decisions for the submitted article, and review suspected incidents of plagiarism.

Reviewers should be responsible with regards to the following:
1. notify the editorial of any conflicts of interest.
2. keep information pertaining to the article confidential.
3. bring to the attention of the Editorial team any information that may be a reason to reject the publication of the article.
4. evaluate the article based on its intellectual content without prejudice regarding to race, gender, religious belief,  or political philosophy of the authors.

Peer Review Process
Each article will go through the following editorial process as below;
1. Call for submissions
2. Article submissions and acknowledgments
3. Technical and content review
4. Double-blind review
5. Revision by author/s (if required)
6. Editorial review/decision

Plagiarism Policy

1. All the submitted manuscripts for publication are checked for plagiarism after submission and before starting review.

2. RUMPUN Journal will judge any case of plagiarism on its limits. If plagiarism is detected by the editorial board member, reviewer, editor, etc., in any stage of the article process- before or after acceptance then we will alert the same to the author(s) and will ask them to rewrite the content or the to cite the references from where the content has been taken. If more than 30% of the paper is plagiarized- the article may be rejected and the same is notified to the author.

3. If the plagiarism is detected in more than 30%, it is found that the authors are very unlikely to revise the manuscript and submit the revised version. However, authors are welcome to do the required revisions and submit the manuscript as a new submission.

4. If a case of plagiarism comes to light after a paper is published in a RUMPUN journal, the journal will conduct a preliminary investigation. If plagiarism is found, the journal will contact the author's institute and funding agencies. A determination of misconduct will lead the RUMPUN journal to run a statement, bidirectionally linked online to and from the original paper, to note the plagiarism, and to provide a reference to the plagiarised material. The paper containing the plagiarism will also be obviously marked on each page of the PDF. Depending on the extent of the plagiarism, the paper may also be formally retracted.

Authorship Policy
Name of authors listed in the article should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the report. Only those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the work must be acknowledged or listed as contributors. It is the duty of the corresponding author to ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included in the article. 

Compline Policy
This procedure applies to complaints about the policies, procedures, or actions of the RUMPUN’s Journal editorial team. We welcome complaints as they provide an opportunity and a spur for improvement, and we aim to respond quickly, courteously, and constructively.
If the Journal receives a complaint that any's contribution to the Journal infringes intellectual property rights or contains material inaccuracies-, or otherwise unlawful materials, the Journal will investigate the complaint. The investigation may include a request that the parties involved substantiate their claims.
Journal should document its investigation and decision. We strive to ensure that RUMPUN Journal is of the highest quality and is free from errors. However, we accept that occasionally mistakes might happen.

RUMPUN Jurnal Persuratan Melayu is published by Persatuan Penulis Budiman Malaysia (Budiman Writers Association of Malaysia). It is a semi-annual journal published in June and December.
